Helping H.E.L.P.
Bring Hope

Our Mission

The Pioneer Evangelical Hospital is located in an isolated area of the Republic of Congo that lies within the Congo Basin, a vast area of water and rain forest. 90,000 people depend on this hospital, and most are very poor. When the hospital founder left Congo, these people were without hope. Operational costs are about $12,000 per month, and many patients cannot pay for their care. Christians in the Congo and USA have now formed an association to manage the costs for helping these people. Sick people are being treated, and lives are being saved. Not only are physical needs met but also the spiritual needs of those who desire to learn about our salvation in Jesus' name. My name is Dr. John Look. My wife and I served in Congo for more than 50 years. Since 2023, I have donated my retirement funds to pay for the costs of medical care at H.E.L.P. Now I need your Help if God leads you to lend a hand. Blessings in the name of our Lord!

Our Story

Established in 2003, the Pioneer Evangelical Hospital (HELP) is a nonprofit medical institution focused on addressing HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, malaria, tuberculosis, leprosy, surgeries and other tropical  diseases. Over the years, HELP has become a reference health center dedicated to improving community well-being. Based in the Moungoungui district of Impfondo, HELP strengthened its long-term stability and impact by signing a Partnership Agreement Protocol with the Government of the Republic of Congo on December 3, 2024, authorizing its operation within the national health system and supporting the delivery of quality healthcare aligned with the National Health Development Plan and the Health Map of Congo.

Common Questions

Question: What does H.E.L.P. stand for?

French is the official language in the Congo.

H-E-L-P is the acronym for Hôpital Evangélique le Pionnier.

Question: Does $12,000 per month seem like a lot of money?

Think of it this way. In one month, hundreds of sick people are treated with this money. One person treated in the USA can pay $4000 for one night in an emergency room (ER).

Question: If you donate $100, how much of that goes to H.E.L.P?

The answer is 100%. No one else gets a dime. Your donation would be tax deductible. Pioneer Evangelical Hospital Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and all donations are fully tax exempt. Donations may be made online.
